Extended Care


The MCS Extended Care services exist to enrich the curricular and co-curricular programs and to support the needs of working families with students enrolled at MCS. The services are an extension of MCS, and we are committed to providing a safe and healthy environment where students can rest, be involved in constructive recreation, and develop their giftedness and talents. Some frequently asked questions are below.

What age is the Extended Care Program for?

Extended Care is available for Young 5s - 8th grade students.

What time can I drop my child(ren) off in the morning?

7:00 a.m. Everyday we are in school we will offer before-care. You do not have to let us know ahead of time and we will receive your child(ren) at the front entrance.

What time does aftercare start and end after school?

5:30 p.m. We will keep your child(ren) on campus from 3:05 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. You need to communicate directly with your teacher OR you can fill out our form to indicate when you need regular help.

What if I am running late?

For any child picked up after program completion, a fee of $5.00 every 10 minutes will be charged.

How do I pick my kids up?

On the window at our main entrance there is a phone number posted for you to call. You will need to provide your first name and last name so we can verify that you have authorization for pick up.

What happens if school is delayed or closed for weather?

If school is delayed, no before-care will be provided. If school ends early or after-school activities are cancelled, no after-care will be provided.

How much does Extended Care cost?

Before-Care | 7:00 a.m - 8:00 a.m. - $5.00 per student per day.

After-Care | 3:05 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. - $5.00 per student per day

After-Care | 3:05 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. - $15.00 per student per day.

Amanda VanHouten

Extended Care Lead

Amanda has served as a Christian school teacher for over 5 years and teaches 3rd grade at MCS. Miss VanHouten graduated from Hope College with a degree in Early Childhood Education and she is committed to creating a nurturing, Christ-centered environment where children can grow emotionally, spiritually, and academically. Amanda loves the opportunity to get to know kids of all ages at MCS and build meaningful connections with each child. In extended care, children have snacks and playtime, and when the weather permits, they can explore nature and stay active outdoors.
